FTZs in the Fashion World
Are you in business in the textile, apparel or footwear industry? Have you ever considered what foreign-trade zones (FTZ) could do for your company? If you answered “yes” to both of those questions then you should attend the FTZ Seminar presented by the National Association of Foreign-Trade Zones (NAFTZ) and the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) and sponsored by Integration Point.
This half-day seminar will take place in New York City on July 20th and will focus on the use of FTZs in the textile and apparel industry. Department of Commerce Deputy Chief of Staff Rick Wade will discuss the current FTZ program, and additional panels will focus on current trade and customs issues related to FTZs and the benefits of FTZs in the apparel industry. Seth Pinsky, President, NYC Economic Development Corporation, will be giving the keynote speech on the garment district and improving competitiveness.
General topics to be discussed include:
- Apparel trade after quotas and visas
- Current issues in Congress
- Customs requirements for imports of apparel products
- Apparel and exports
- Benefits of FTZ, application process, and activation
To register for the conference, visit the NAFTZ website. If you are planning to attend, let us know. We will have representatives there and would like to say hello. If you are thinking about starting a FTZ program or are just starting the application process download an on-demand webcast on making FTZs work for you.
