The Official Journal published that the treaty between Mexico and Guatemala went into force on September 1st 2013. This is part of the Free trade agreement between Mexico and Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua (Mexico – Central America FTA).
It bears pointing out that the free trade agreement between Mexico and Central America entered into force with Costa Rica July 1st 2013, which only left Guatemala pending to be entered into force for the entire region. The Mexico – Central America FTA unifies the three treaties Mexico signed with Costa Rica in 1995, with Nicaragua in 1998 and with the Northern triangle (Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras) in 2001.
