C-TPAT Assessment Software

The Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) certification program is a voluntary program offered by US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) to organizations that want to receive the benefits of reduced inspections, increased compliance and security throughout their supply chains. Often the timing of an organization's participation in the C-TPAT program is a result of the availability of manpower to solicit information from suppliers, organize the responses, and maintain the information.

Using the right technology, supplier data collection, organization, and risk analysis can be done easily —without requiring large investments into IT infrastructure or resources. After all, the main goal of the C-TPAT program is not to add more work for the importer, but to help increase the security of all global supply chains that bring products into the US.

Integration Point® C-TPAT Assessment Software

Integration Point C-TPAT Assessment Software provides electronic collection, standardization and organization of supplier data, allowing the user to efficiently collect information required for C-TPAT certification.  The documentation solicitation feature simplifies validation with US CBP during C-TPAT validation.

The tools provided in Integration Point web-based C-TPAT Assessment allow companies to capture and analyze supplier security profiles in real time. As each question is answered, the impact to the overall risk rating is calculated automatically rather than waiting for all answers to be returned and compiled manually.  Suppliers that are C-TPAT certified can document their certification number for easy reference.

Using Integration Point C-TPAT Assessment, users can tailor questions to specific supplier profiles for groups of entities to be verified in C-TPAT.  The automatic notification feature sends invitations to participate and reminders to complete information to suppliers via email, and helps automate what was once a frustrating and time-consuming paper collection process.

Benefits of automating the C-TPAT validation process using Integration Point C-TPAT Assessment include:

  • Leverage mutual recognition with other governments around the world
  • Eliminate need for manual tracking of supplier risk factors
  • Analyze supplier risk factors as questionnaires are being completed, automatically
  • Attach documentation (photos, procedural guidelines, etc.) to individual supplier records
  • Reduce the number of Customs inspections of your shipments
  • Receive priority processing for any inspections that are required
  • Increase compliance with special trade programs such as FAST or ISA
  • Improve cycle time for imports and optimize inventory

And for those organizations that have already received C-TPAT certification, software can assist with the maintaining of the C-TPAT certificate by assisting with the collection of updated supplier information on an annual basis. Automatic triggering of follow-up processing ensures you are ready when it is time to revalidate with CBP.

What is Mutual Recognition?

Mutual recognition is the accepting of common security parameters and the acceptance of that certification by various countries. Currently the US C-TPAT program shares mutual recognition with the countries of Jordan, New Zealand and Canada. US CBP hopes to extend this mutual recognition to the member states of the European Union in the near future.

Integration Point Supply Chain Compliance provides organizations with the ability to leverage mutual recognition agreements. Questions can be combined for various programs (C-TPAT, PIP, AEO) into one questionnaire, thus allowing the supplier to answer only one time instead of completing multiple surveys for multiple certifications. And, having all the supplier information in one database allows organizations to quickly address new security programs initiated by other countries.

For more information on upcoming C-TPAT mutual recognition agreements, visit the CBP website.

For more information on security programs in other countries, visit the World Customs Organization (WCO) website.
